Scientific CV:
Dietrich Paulus received his Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the University of Western Ontario, Canada, and his Diploma in Computer Science from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (1987).
He received his doctorate from the Chair of Pattern Recognition at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg in 1992 on the topic of "Object-Oriented Image Processing". From 1987-1992 he was a research assistant at the Chair of Pattern Recognition.
In 2000, he habilitated in practical computer science with the habilitation thesis "Active Image Understanding" at the Technical Faculty of the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg.
Until 2001, he headed the image processing group at this chair and worked on numerous projects in industrial image processing and medical image processing. Since 2001 he has been a professor at the University of Koblenz-Landau in the Institute for Computational Visualistics.
In 2005-2008 he was Dean of Faculty 4, Computer Science. In 2008, he co-founded the Institute for Medical Technology and Information Processing Mittelrhein (MTI), which now bundles the university's medical research and facilitates joint research between the hospitals and universities in Koblenz.
In the years 2008-2019 he was senator of the Department of Informatics. On 01.04.2012 he was appointed head of the joint university computer centre of the universities in Koblenz (GHRKO).

Research interests:
Active vision, medical and industrial image processing, software engineering for image analysis, three-dimensional reconstruction from image sequences and robotics.
