Part-time doctorate at the University of Leipzig. Since 2001 Professor of Sports Management at Koblenz University of Applied Sciences/RheinAhrCampus Remagen. 2012 Habilitation at Saarland University, research stay at Brock University (Canada).
Research interests:
Interaction of urban development with sports development, movement and play. He is particularly interested in individual behaviour and its framing through sports facilities, sports clubs and voluntary commitment. Currently ongoing research projects include the research project funded by the Federal Institute for Sports Science on the need for renovation and supply levels of sports facilities in Germany, on swimming pool infrastructure and on the impact of the federal funding programme "Investment Pact for Sports Facilities". In addition, several municipalities are being supported in the development, implementation and evaluation of their sports development planning, including the municipalities and sports clubs in the Ahr valley affected by the floods.
